Mr. Nagesh is the founder of public charitable trust TRRAIN (Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India) and a not-for-profit company called TRRAIN Foundation. He has been involved with Shoppers Stop since its inception in 1991 as the first employee. He stepped out of the day-to-day roles of the business as MD in 2009.

Mr. Nagesh is currently the Vice Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Shoppers Stop Limited. He holds a degree of Masters in Management Studies from the Benares Hindu University. As Vice Chairman, Mr. Nagesh continues to play the role of strategic advisor to the management of Shoppers Stop.

Mr. Nagesh was also instrumental in setting up Hypercity, a chain of hypermarkets. He is also the Founder Chairman of RAI (Retailers Association of India) and serves on the board of Marico Limited, Kaya Limited and ENIL (Radio Mirchi).
