In recent times a number of new restaurants and old ventures are seeing their partners joining hands in the business such as The Table, Massive Restaurants, Embassy Restaurants and Catering to name a few that is being excelled by the husband-wife duo. Gauri Devidayal & Jay Yousuf: "The Table was the brainchild of my husband, Jay Yousuf, and me. Jay was fresh off the boat back from San Francisco and dearly missed the food scene he was fortunate to have at his doorstep in SF. Back in 2008, the restaurant scene in Mumbai was quite limited as the city didn’t boast of a place that served a heavily ingredient-focused cuisine. So that and the joy that Jay & I get from sharing a common love for food coupled to opening our own restaurant,” remembers Gauri Devidayal who together with her husband has given Mumbai some of the quirkiest and finest restaurant concept.
Dildeep Kalra & Zorawar Kalra: Regarded as ‘the Prince of Indian cuisine’, Zorawar Kalra, after the successful exit from his maiden venture credited with introducing one of the most awarded regional cuisine restaurant concepts in India, launched Massive Restaurants Pvt. Ltd."Dildeep joined the company when I had to go to Mumbai for Masterchef India shoot for 3 months. At that time, she took over the reins of the company and did an admirable job handling the operations for those 3 months,” points Kalra. Before that, she was only peripherally involved in the business but after her interim stint, she imbibed herself into the role and has proven a valuable asset to the brand. “She is the core for different verticals such as marketing, corporate communications, PR and HR. It is safe to say that she is a people's person and is extremely approachable which makes her an efficient leader. She also proactively looks into the financial aspects of the business from time to time,” adds Kalra.
Avantika Sinha Bahl & Pranay Bahl: Founder and manager director of Kampai, Avantika conceptualized Kampai because of her love and fascination for Japan and the Japanese food and cultural scene. On her multiple trips to Japan over the years, her fascination with their rich heritage and culture only made her more passionate about her dream project- Kampai. Her love for food and restaurants began at a young age, which only grew stronger when she married into one of the oldest F&B family in Delhi- The Embassy family. Avantika and her husband Pranay took over his fathers catering business only to turn it around completely into a new approachable brand attracting people of every age group!
Rachel Goenka & Karan Khetarpal: Rachel is the founder and CEO of The Chocolate Spoon Company which operates 5 restaurants, 10 patisseries and 2 central kitchens across Mumbai and Pune. Her brands include The Sassy Spoon, House of Mandarin, Baraza Bars & Bites, Wicked China-a quirky Asian resto-bar launched in May 2018 in Pune, as well as Sassy Teaspoon, a chain of patisseries and bakeries. A young and seasoned entrepreneur, Rachel is best known for her innovative delicacies and trademark desserts. Her motto is ‘Food is the one love you will never fall out of’. “Karan joined the company in 2017 after I got pregnant. I wouldn’t be able to travel back and forth and he decided to take the plunge and step away from a career in investment banking and nose dive into restauranting since I would be out of commission closer to my delivery,” smiles the lady Goenka whose husband took over the reins of management while she was on maternity leave and quickly earned the respect and appreciation of the entire company. “He immersed himself into operations to understand the business and now looks after the finance and expansion as well as the management of the company along with me. It’s been amazing working with him, I honestly wish we had done it sooner because we both push each other, constantly challenge each other and it’s great to have a sounding board like him,” she adds.
Neetu Dhir & Rajiv Dhir: “It’s been almost 13 years that this city opened its gate for us and welcomed us with all heart and smiles. We didn’t really know what was stored in destiny but all we knew is “One cannot think, love and sleep well, if one has not been fed well.” Both of us were super keen to put a step forward and enter the food industry. And this industry is not easy to survive in, I am sure everybody knows,” shares the Dhirs. Entering the catering world was moving one step ahead, the walk was tough but was not tiring and it was full of thrills and excitement. The duo knew that something was left that had to be done. And it is finally here “PABLO- The food cartel. All the hard work for all these years gave a birth to this baby.
Ankita Vaid & Kartik Aggarwal: Ankita and Kartik got married 1. 3 years ago after an amazing relationship of nine years. Ankita was working as a PR Manager and Karthik was running a family restaurant business in Delhi itself. After their wedding they started to come up with a new food outlet and opened Bhalla King last year. “We always knew that we will make good business partners because of the understanding that we share. Therefore, we planned to start Bhalla King with the vision of opening at least 30 outlets in next 5 years,” says Vaid who believe that their professions have helped them a lot. “He has always taken care of the food quality, customer satisfaction, food licenses and the presentation and is doing quite well in that but when it comes to our efforts being recognized or promoting our outlet, I come into picture,” she adds.

Having two decades of experience in the industry, Chef Gautam has a good understanding of ingredients and flavors. He is known for his healthy and experimental flavors. He comprehends the art of good nutrition well and combines it with the aesthetics of Ayurveda. “Success of any operations is based on the understanding of various aspects of the trade and a long term vision. Gunjan being an IT professional and having her strong hold in admin and HR complements the business well,” shares Chaudhry who believe that her pushing attitude to get a perfect 10 for any task is contagious.
