Unicommerce, an integrated e-commerce enablement SAAS platform, says that shopping during the festive season this year has recorded a 16% growth compared to the last year. Based on an analysis of over 2.8 million order items processed by Unicommerce during the 10-day period of festive sales in 2023 and 2024, e-commerce volumes have witnessed a rise of 16 pc compared to the previous year.
In a press statement, Unicommerce, which is an integrated e-commerce enablement SAAS platform, says that the periods taken into consideration is September 26 – October 5, 2024 and October 7 – October 16, 2023. It says that it has analysed the shopping trends of Indians which appear to be steadily gaining momentum.
It says that this growth has been driven by an increase in orders placed for categories like healthy snacks and eatables, which saw a rise of over 65 pc Y-o-Y, kitchenware which grew by 34 pc in order volumes in 2024 and apparel which witnessed a 22 pc rise in order volumes during this period.
Unicommerce says that other categories which witnessed a significant jump of over 100 pc Y-o-Y in order volumes in this period include home decor, travel accessories, electronics and gaming accessories.
The statement notes that Tier II cities including Jaipur, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Surat and Patna and Tier III cities such as Kolar, Alwar, Kamrup, Sonipat and Gandhinagar are leading online markets by order volumes in festive season sales this year.
