Service launched across some parts of Bengaluru

E-commerce giant Flipkart has entered the quick-commerce race with a service called Minutes. The launch of this service pegs Flipkart in direct competition with firms such as Zepto, Swiggy’s Instamart, and Zomato’s Blinkit.

Flipkart had been planning to enter the 10-minute delivery service space for the past few months and has finally done so as the service has begun in some parts of Bengaluru like HSR Layout, Gunjur, Bellandur and Kadubeesanahalli.

These are popular residential and IT hubs witnessing huge demand for quick commerce services.

The new service offers customers the ability to have a wide range of items, from grocery to smartphones, delivered to them within 10 to 15 minutes. The e-commerce firm is offering customers free delivery on orders priced at Rs 100.

Flipkart is the latest entrant to the instant commerce market, which is quickly making inroads in India even as the model has failed in many other markets. Quick commerce players, which rely on hundreds of small warehouses or “dark stores”, have expanded to numerous categories in recent months, invading Amazon’s and Flipkart’s traditional territory.
