Delhi-based footwear brand Campus Show is all set to expand through EBOs. In an exclusive interaction with Shipra Srivastava, Nikhil Aggarwal, Managing Director, Campus Shoes, shares the way forward.
How has been the journey of Campus Shoes?
As of now, 99 per cent of the business comes from wholesale model. We cater to more than 14,000 multi brand outlets (MBOs) pan India through a number of distributors. And, now we are focusing to start our multi brand outlet (EBO) model and plan to introduce a number of stores this year. Our EBO business will start from Delhi-NCR and then gradually penetrate into other parts of India.
Don’t you think you are a late entrant in the market? How will you set yourself apart from the competition?
We have brought in a lot of technology into the shoes. And, we strongly feel an urge to have an exclusive offline store where we can justify the kind of products we made, which we were unable to do in large format MBOs due to space constraint. We want to have EBO to impart experience and showcase our entire range to our end consumers.
So now you are ready to compete with established brands such as Adidas, Puma and many more?
We do not complete with MNC brands. We strictly operate in Rs 800 to Rs 2,000 MRP range. Our price point is super exciting for a common man.
Who is your target group?
We are a youth-centric brand, though we cater to all age groups including kids staring from six or seven years of age. We have women shoes as well catering to an entire female range. However, our strength is into the male segment. For this category, we target age group between 15 and 40. This is the segment where we are most popular.
What’s your next plan?
We think offline will always play a bigger role in Indian market especially in footwear category. We are very bullish on the offline market and are looking to open 50 stores in this financial year.
