Loob Holding Sdn Bhd, the creator of Malaysia’s Tealive bubble tea brand, has announced its entry into the Indian markets. The company has signed an agreement with World Iconic Brands Hospitality (P) Ltd. (WIB) to expand Tealive in the metro cities of India, including Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru. WIB is a specialist franchise development company in India, which has secured master franchisee rights to open 140 Tealive stores across India within the next five years. With its origins in Taiwan, bubble tea, or boba tea as it is popularly known as, is a widely consumed flavoured beverage containing tea as the basic component, along with chewy tapioca balls.
To raise brand awareness and stand out among its competitors, Tealive injects “innovative and exciting products” into the markets that it operates in, be it for a limited time only or on a long-term basis. Meanwhile, Gaurav Marya described Tealive as an “ideal partner” to introduce a modern tea culture to India. “I believe Tealive presents a huge opportunity in the country where people relate to the concept of drinking tea in a big way.,”he mentioned.“We will invest USD 2 million for the first 10-15 Tealive stores in India which would include infrastructure, supply chain, staff training, etc.,” he added. In terms of market presence, Tealive operates 175 outlets in Malaysia, has five stores in Vietnam and is planning to open an outlet in Australia the next month.
