Dunkin’ Brands recently announced its success both for Baskin Robbins and Dunkin’ Donuts. As many as 790 restaurants of both brands have been added by it worldwide in 2013. The brand has plans to introduce some 800 franchise and licensed outlets in 2014.
Nigel Travis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dunkin’ Brands, said, “All totalled, our franchisees and licensees opened 790 net new restaurants globally in 2013, and this year we expect to open 685 to 800 net new Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins restaurants on a worldwide basis. We believe a major contributor to our strong year-over-year growth is the disciplined approach we consistently take to improve franchisee economics.”
More than 20 US markets comprising Salt Lake City, Utah, Southern California and Ohio saw the brand signing multi-store development agreements in 2013. Also, 527 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants were revamped along with the launch of a new restaurant design option. The company eventually aims to own over 15,000 US Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants through franchise path.
While 400 plus Dunkin’ Donut restaurants are to be opened in the US, around 400 Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins restaurants are in pipeline to be opened outside the US in 2014.
