- After Paytm, now Amazon foraying into edtech space with the launch of 'JEE Ready' app
E-commerce and tech giant Amazon has launched an IIT JEE preparation app called JEE Ready, venturing into the edtech space.
The app has been introduced in the beta phase, helping students prepare for entrance tests by allowing them to take an All India Mock Test for free.
Users can log in with their Amazon credentials and add details such as their coaching centres and target year for the test. Currently, Amazon lists a few coaching institutes but the test served to students is the same at the moment.
With this new launch, Amazon is following the footsteps of prominent startups such as Paytm, which recently announced that it is planning to expand significantly in the education services category.
Paytm said that it is working with private and government educational institutions to provide admission forms, exam results, applications for government jobs, coaching, test preparations, scholarships, study abroad, skill development, certification programmes, and convenience to buy uniforms, books, and stationery on its platform.
The payments giant will also offer financial services such as educational insurance, loans, and co-branded smart cards to students later this year.
The Seattle-based company was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994. Amazon started as an online bookseller and has now become a pioneer in technology.
