- Amara Raja & NTPC to Operate Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses in Leh
The inauguration of India's first green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh, Ladakh, marked an important milestone in the country's green energy journey. This project, carried out by Amara Raja Infra for NTPC Ltd., seeks to encourage emission-free transport in the area.
Union Power Minister and Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, officially inaugurated the station. After the project is completed, NTPC will run five hydrogen fuel cell buses throughout Leh and the nearby areas.
Amara Raja Infra, an Amara Raja Group subsidiary, is in charge of the entire project, which included design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the hydrogen station. In addition, the company will supply all systems with three years of operating and maintenance support.
The green hydrogen fuelling station has the capacity to create 80 kilograms of green hydrogen per day. The project took two years to complete, despite difficult conditions such as harsh temperatures and high altitude.
This venture is projected to set a precedent for future green hydrogen transportation and storage initiatives in India, in line with the goals of the National Hydrogen Energy Mission. It will also provide crucial information about the development and deployment of hydrogen filling stations across the country.
