- Architecture of Antara spa at The Club Mumbai defines oasis of tranquility
Designing a day spa within the busy streets of Mumbai is like creating a facade that invokes a calm design aesthetic. However, the Antara spa at The Club offers an inviting yet soothing exterior that heightens the curiosity of the user, almost lifting people into an imaginative and creative world with a silent story telling.
Spread in an elaborate space of approx 3,500 sq ft, the welcoming ambiance of the spa is adorned with soothing aromas of essential oils lit well in aromatic burners.
"At Antara Spa, we have always strived towards creating a comfort zone for the customers, endures positive vibes with peace and tranquility surrounding on offer. We, at Antara, aim to distress mind, body and soul completely with our specially designed treatments. The therapeutic hands at Antara are retained for the last 8 years, which has helped us in building credibility in the minds of our customers. At our spa, we follow strict rules to maintain hygiene in terms of the products, bathing products or linen used in the spa. We do not compromise on our maintenance cost and maintain the quality standards of the spa,” said Ronak Jani, Spa Manager.
Design layout & philosophy
The entrance to Antara Spa is thoughtfully conceptualised near the pool side as the presence of the pristine water relaxes the senses subconsciously as the guest enters into the spa. The interiors are minimalistic, but extraordinary with a mother of pearl inlay on a calming beige background. The spotless white marble of the inlay symbolises the treasures of the sea and the purifying property of water. Antara spa has been delicately lit with highlights on handpicked artifacts, mostly imported from Bali and Thailand.
While the simplicity of design is the overriding theme, therapy rooms are given a unique character by the use of textured fabrics and exquisite silk which stand out in a subliminal manner. To give it a very classy look, Seasoned Burma teak has been used as its long lasting and hardy.
Architect
The Antara spa has been designed by Sweta Shah, who established Sweta Shah & Associates in 2007. Dedicated to a collaborative design process, Shah explores the boundaries between architecture, art and environment. Since its inception, the firm has completed a diverse body of work, consistent with its goal of achieving quality design within all scales of the built environment.
Spa furniture and significance
This must be a few of the day spas that have used all customised Burma Teak furnitures, including the therapy beds designed to offer comfortable experience, not only to the guests but to the therapists as well, making the service flawless and overwhelming.
In fact, each treatment room also has a day bed and lounge chair, crafted specifically to compliment the overall décor of the treatment room. Even the utility operational consoles are built in as per the requirement of the therapists, and to avoid the clutter, that one would normally see in a therapy room with regards to the equipments involved in a treatment.
Number of therapy rooms
Six therapy rooms out of which, two can be combined into a luxury couple suite. All the rooms come with an attached shower and steam cubicles with an automatic temperature and light controller. The couple spa suite can also work as an independent therapy room built in with a soak tub for long duration massages.
Lighting and chandeliers
We’ve used dim lighting at Antara spa to keep the ambiance soothing and relaxing. Another element that truly enlightens the spa is Tea light candles.
Spa flooring
The material used within the facility is anti-skid and rustic full body vitrified tiles on the floor. The Mosaic has been specially imported from Bali, used in the steam shower areas of the therapy rooms in order to create a different ambience. The couple suite has a different material palate as against the four regular therapy rooms.
Products used in the spa
The spa used all organic products which are extremely effective and mild in texture. Remy Laure and Skyndor products are used for face and body treatments. Inspired by ancient traditions and philosophies, combined with modern day touches, the spa treatment menu offers a surreal experience that relaxes and allows the guest to unwind, escape and rejuvenate in a tranquil ambiance.
