Arvind Lifestyle Brands Ltd, a subsidiary of Arvind Ltd has tied up with GAP Inc, an American brand to open GAP stores in India. Arvind plans to open about 40 franchise GAP stores in India. The first stores are expected to open in Mumbai and Delhi.
GAP launched its first franchise store in 2006. Currently, GAP has over 350 franchise and around 3200 company owned stores. “India is an emerging market and forms an important step in our global expansion strategy. GAP is known for American casual style. We are pleased to bring our brand and products for customers in India,” says Steve Sunnucks, Global President, GAP.
“We have a long and successful association with GAP as our vendor partner. We are delighted to extend this partnership to retail and bring GAP stores to India. This is indeed a significant step to expand our retail presence,” says Sanjay Lalbhai, Chairman and MD, Arvind Ltd.
GAP Inc is a global retailer offering clothing, accessories including personal care products for men, women, children as well babies under the brands, GAP, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Piperlime, Athleta and Intermix. The first GAP store was opened by Doris and Don Fisher in 1969.
