- Aster DM Healthcare eyes investing Rs 1000 crore for expansion of hospitals in India
Aster DM Healthcare is looking to invest about Rs 1000 crore for expanding its hospital facilities in India. The group will set up new hospitals in Kerala as well as in Bengaluru and Chennai.
Dr Azad Moopen, Chairman of the group, said, “We plan to add 1500 beds to the existing 4300 in the country by 2021.”
“The 300-bed hospital in Kannur and 250 bed one in Bengaluru are nearing completion. We are planning to construct two big hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai. The average cost of setting up a bed would be around Rs 60-70 lakh,” he added.
Dr Harish Pillai, CEO, Aster Hospitals and Clinics India, further stated, “There has been 15 % increase in the arrival of medical value travellers into Kerala with more visitors from African countries like Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania and from Bangladesh, apart from the Gulf countries.”
