- Bangaluru-based fitness marketplace Gympik buys start-up FitnessPapa
Bengaluru-based fitness and wellness services marketplace, Gympik has acquired FitnessPapa, for an undisclosed amount. Founded and operated by StunApp Technology Pvt Ltd in 2015, FitnessPapa partners with fitness studios, gyms and give access to users in one place.
Significantly, FitnessPapa has over 500 centers across Bangaluru, Chennai and Coimbatore. It offers a monthly membership program called ‘FitnessPapa passport’ which enables users to join best fitness centers for a workout of their choice.
The monthly membership fee is Rs 999 (excluding taxes) and provides access to 10 classes.
Founded in 2012 by Amaresh Ojha and Ajay Pandey, Gympik is an online platform for personal health trainers, dieticians, group trainers and other professional trainers and centres to list and find prospective users.
For users it also gives an option to track their workouts, log their diets and monitor the progress along with a mechanism to show the user a daily weekly, monthly progress in terms of weight, height, BMI and calories burnt.
Following the deal, Gympik will retain the monthly pass system but will allow users to choose from 30 different workouts such as Zumba, Yoga, dancing, Gym, swimming, Karate, mixed martial arts, boxing among others and it claims to have around 6,000 centers and studios.
Previously, it had raised US$ 135K in its seed round of investment from a group of angel investors including, Capvent’s Managing Partners Tom Clausen and RohanAjila,
