The franchise agreement of Rajasthan Royals and King’s XI Punjab, IPL teams has been terminated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to allegations of irregularities in ownership structure. Further, a new franchise to be based in Kochi has been given 10 days to resolve issues or face repercussions of being struck off from the franchisee’s list.

The IPL's governing body referred to legal issues like ‘transgressions of shareholding’ and ‘ownership norms’ is being responsible for the expulsions.
