With an idea of sustainable business and addressing few issues faced by the customer in the home decor sector, Tony Thomas came up with an idea of steel and Stainless Steel Home Interior products and incepted a company named Beth Living.
Beth living -- Bengaluru-based company, addresses few challenges with its innovative products which are fire proof, gives pest free experience, water resistance, eco-friendly, easy installation.
Speaking to Opportunity India, founder Tony Thomas said, “In the home decor industry, there are multiple pain points which are not being addressed by the big companies. In order to address these pain points, we came up with an idea of creating eco-friendly home decor products.”
Speaking about the challenges, Thomas said, “First of all the sustainable was not familiar term for the industry and that took some time. Communication was major barrier to make people believe that there is solution to problem you are facing due to a particular product. So, today 32 per cent of our sale is happening through consumer references.”
“Second challenge was learning as there was not any such product in the market that we are manufacturing so we had to learn everything on our own and we took the hard route and due to that route now our company is going to be a company which has ten patents,” he added.
Advising budding entrepreneurs he said that every businessman should ensure that his product is sound and does not create any issue for the consumer.
“First of all the product should be sound and should solve the problem of consumer and secondly, consumer traction is very important. I don’t believe on the funding from other source but one should always count on their customers,” Thomas said.
Bethliving, a bootstrapped company, has been expanding with aim to achieve 250 crore revenue in the next five years.
“We have now 35 stores across India. We have two models of store one is company-owned store and franchinse store. Right now are adding new store which is Franchise Invested Company Operated model (FICOO). In order to achieve the 250 crore, we need to increase the number of stores in the country,” he said.
The manufacturing of the company approaches every process with two critical tasks. Use technologies that consume lesser power. as a consequence, the company has most of its process driven by Servomotors. Besides that, there is a specific programme in manufacturing process to use compressed air as a tool. Literally, every hand tool in the manufacturing process is pneumatic and air-driven. Making the energy needs less and also keep the shop floor a degree or two cooler.
Bethliving manufacturing produces its own energy captively from its captive solar plant. Though connected to the grid our solar plant produces an equal amount of energy and puts it out to the grid. Making it a zero Carbon manufacturing plant.
Scrap and other wastages accounting is the centre of this programme. Every kilogram of raw material is accounted for and put through a technology platform for the highest level of utilisation. Once the process clears the utilisation levels the actual wastage is tracked accounted and put through a credible recycling process through a vendor.
