Birla Edutech Limited, a Yash Birla Group Company, plans to open 50 schools in the next three years. Talking about the expansion plan, Vedant Birla, Director, Yash Birla Group, said: “We are planning to open 50 schools in the next three years of which 10 schools will be owned by us and the rest will be opened through franchise partners. Birla Edutech Limited has three main educational initiatives namely Shloka, Open Minds and Globe Tot’ers. While Shloka and Open Minds are meant for students at the primary and higher secondary level, Globe Tot’ers is a preschool.”
Vijay Mishra, CEO, Birla Edutech, informed: “As per our expansion plan, out of 50 schools, we will be opening 10 Open Minds and the rest will be Shloka. Open Minds caters to metros while Shloka’s are meant for tier II and III cities in the country. It takes an investment of around Rs 35-50 crore to set up an Open Minds school while Shloka requires Rs 20-30 crore.”
Currently, the company has 15 schools in the country. The group also plans to enter into higher education arena with 15-16 super specialty colleges but the plan is in the phase of ideation. The actual work should begin by the next one-two years.
