BluSmart will provide sessions on EVs to familiarize women drivers with unique features and benefits, along with Automotive Skill Development Council’s 3-month driver skills training program.

BluSmart, an electric vehicle (EV) ride-hailing service and charging network, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC), a skill development body for the automotive sector. The collaboration, known as Project Sakhi, aims to provide employment opportunities for 250 women in Delhi NCR.

Under the MoU, ASDC will conduct a 3-month driver skills training program to equip women with the necessary skills for safe and efficient driving. Simultaneously, BluSmart will provide sessions on EVs to familiarize them with unique features and benefits, including insights from existing BluSmart women driver partners. BluSmart, serving as the placement partner, will offer employment opportunities to trained women drivers with relevant certifications from ASDC post standardized screening and driving tests.

Anirudh Arun, Co-founder & COO of BluSmart, highlighted the company’s commitment to gender diversity in the transportation sector. "By providing training, and a supportive network, we are not just creating job opportunities as drivers; we are fostering a community of empowered women contributing to sustainable and inclusive urban transport," he said.

Diverse Workforce

Arindam Lahiri, CEO of ASDC, stated, "ASDC is thrilled to provide a platform for an inclusive and diverse workforce for clean energy ride experience for residents of Delhi NCR. This partnership with BluSmart aligns perfectly with our commitment to skill development and empowerment. We believe this initiative will set a precedent for more inclusive practices within the automotive industry."

BluSmart, by partnering with ASDC, aims to facilitate the growth and success of women drivers while contributing to the evolution of transportation, the company said.
