- Book Café to script its presence pan-India
Book Café, a multi-format and flexi book retail chain, aims to set up across the country. Book Café stands strong in its presence with thirty six stores in twenty five cities across India, and aims to be spread pan India by 2009 through franchise route. Launched at Ludhiana in February 2003, this bookstore of unique concept leveraged co-location and co-branding with espresso bars, airports, metro stations, hotels, hospitals and other public places, to fuel the growth strategy. Book Café is a platform and a place where one can regularly get-together with like-minded people and get involved with book meets, book clubs, book launches, publisher festivals, author signings, debates and many other interesting event. The store caters to all age groups as it houses books for children, fiction and non-fiction novels, books on cookery, management, health & yoga and many more. Book Café is promoted by English Book Depot (EBD) family in association with The Variety Book Depot. According to Mr. Sandeep Dutt, Promoter and Chief Executive Officer, EBD Book Café Pvt. Ltd., “Brewing Knowledge is our mission and Book Café aims to offer a superior book shopping experience and to reinvent the way books are bought and sold in India. After consolidating our presence in the North India, we are now entered the hearts of book aficionados in the South followed by west and wrapping up with Eastern India”. EBD has set up this Multi Format book retail chain and its Flexi format structure has the potential to utilise 25 to 1000 sq feet space. At the end of the day, both E-commerce and the ERP software will enable delivery of books anytime and anywhere. Among the many facilities provided to its customers is the Fast Card Program that is dedicated to booklovers and offers discounts and privileges. The Card is unique as it is valid across all Book Cafe stores and on the web site too. Apart from this, Book Café customers can also pick up books from the company’s new Dial-a-book service whereby a customer can easily call and have a book delivered home.
