Driven by her deep passion for ‘making every woman beautiful’, Shweta Sachani, Founder and CEO, Makeup India, is an IIT and IIM alumni, fashion makeup certified from Milan, London and a certified Nail Artist from Star Nails, USA. She talks at length about the expansion plans she has chalked out for Makeup India and how she wishes to take women entrepreneurs in India to a new pedestal.
When did you start this venture?
I started Makeup India in 2012 with a vision to be the largest player in makeup studio chain. Within a span of two years Makeup India has touched life of 1,50,000 individuals through training programs, makeup and social media. Within one year of franchising, we have reached three major cities and plan to reach another 15 in the next three years.
Why franchising?
We started franchising this year itself. We chose the franchise route because our focus is expansion. We have a solid business model which is not only profitable for our company and our brand, but also potentially profitable for any franchisee who chooses to invest in it.
Your views on women entrepreneurship.
On a social perspective, Makeup India is promoting women entrepreneurship which is an important goal of the venture. In five years, we plan to create 150 successful women entrepreneurs.
What sort of training and support do you provide to your franchisees?
We provide complete professional makeup training to our franchisees. We render business training on how to handle clients, sales training and staying profitable in the business. We also provide design, hiring, advertising, real estate, store branding and ongoing operational support.
How many outlets do you presently have?
Currently, we have five outlets out of which four are franchisee run.
What are your expansion plans?
We want to open 20 studios this year. We wish to expand across all major cities of India including Jaipur, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jodhpur, Surat, Kolkata, Patna, Srinagar, Shimla, Chennai, Hyderabad and Guwahati among others. We plan to have 150 studios five years down the line with a very strong presence in all metro cities.
