Brainsmiths Education, an Indore based training institute for engineering and medical students, that opened 10 years back, now plans to expand via franchise route. The company plans to open at least 200 centres in the next three years with focus on tier II and III cities.
Brainsmiths Education provides coaching in competitive exams like IIT JEE/AIIM /AIEEE/AIPMT and also gives coaching for standard XI and XII students. The company presently has seven running institutes in which four are franchised. These are spread over in areas like Ratlam and Sehore (Madya Pradesh), Modinagar (Uttar Pradesh) and Karnal (Haryana). Besides, the company has three company-owned institutes in Indore and Aurangabad.
Speaking to Abha Garyali of Franchise India Holdings Limited (FIHL), Jean Thomas John, Director, Brainsmiths Education Pvt. Ltd, said, “We have plans of opening around 200 franchised institutes in the next three years.” He further informed, “We would be opening our centres on pan India basis.” Brainsmiths is looking to open centres in Karnataka and Kerala in the south, while in the west it is looking at cities like Nasik, and Ahmednagar. In Gujarat, they are targeting cities like Vadodara, Rajkot, etc, while in the north the company is eyeing Ludhiana for its initial stage.
Brainsmiths will offer the advantage of highly researched scientific study material and faculties that is comparable to the best in the country. The prospective franchisees need to have a rich educational background. They can also be retired persons from any service industry or even ex-army personnels.
The area required to start an institute would be between 1000 sq ft. to 1500 sq ft. The total investment required is about Rs 7 lakh, inclusive of the franchisee fee for all tier II and III cities. For metros, the investment may vary to some extend.
