Pranay Impex (P) Ltd, an Indian cleaning aids company, which started off with steel scrubbers, is now the manufacturer of 12 different categories of cleaning products. In a tete-a-tete with Franchise India, Pravin Khandelwal, Director of the company, shares his company’s vision and expresses his views on the present state of the Indian cleaning industry.
Tell us about your brand.
Pranay Impex (P) Ltd is an emerging house of cleaning aids in India. The company was established in the year 2004 and is present in 17 states and has a network of distributors all across the country. The company manufactures 13 categories of cleaning products ranging from scrubbers, brooms, floor wipers, sink brushes, brooms, cotton mops to toilet brushes.
The company started it manufacturing in 2004 with an initial capex of 60,000. The subsidiary units are in different states such as Delhi, Sonipat, Akola and Patna. There are around 350 permanent workers, 70% of which constitutes of women employees. We have a wide inspiring and loyal customer base, which is a continuous source of inspiration for new product development and innovation.
What is the USP of your brand?
We are one of the largest manufacturers in India. Pranay’s Cleanup is known as one of the best system-oriented companies of the sector. The biggest USP, which gives us an edge over the other domestic players of this sector, is the timely delivery of the products and servicing the sector with the utter-best quality.
A word on the Indian cleaning industry.
Cleaning industry in India is mix of organised and unorganised segments. The household cleaning holds one third of the share of the entire cleaning industry and the sector is majorly driven by the SME segment, which is scattered and highly unorganised. Due to this reason, there is lack of strong representation of this industry at the policy-making level.
What are your expansion plans?
We started our production in 2004 and over a decade we have seen a growth of around 100 times. Our forthcoming plans are to expand our product category to 100 and make a growth of 100 fold in topline till 2025. We added different variants of household brooms last year and very soon we are launching aluminium foil, it should hit the market by August this year. We would be opening new vertical of disposables this year. We would expand further to cater to pan-India requirements, we intend to open six more units by 2025.
How big is your distribution network in India?
We manufacture 13 categories of cleaning products ranging from scrubbers, brooms, floor wipers, sink brushes, brooms, cotton mops to toilet brushes which is distributed in 17 states such as Delhi & NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim and West Bengal. We have more than 700 stockiest across these states.
What are your target cities in India?
We are mostly present in all the cities of the 17 states we cater to. The company has a wide inspiring and loyal customer base in almost 350 districts, which is a continuous source of inspiration for new product development and innovation.
