Burger King, one of the leading QSR chains of the world, has begun with its home delivery service in India. India is the fifth country where the company will start its home delivery service. According to the industry experts, it is a step taken to leverage Indian consumption habits and cater to the growing needs which are seeing consumers shopping increasingly through mobile apps. Besides the US; Spain, Korea and China are the only other countries where Burger King, with a footprint across close to 100 countries, offers the home delivery platform.
Burger King has partnered with three tech firms, namely LimeTray, FastOx and Grab to start its home delivery business in India. Commenting on the emerging role of technology in F&B industry, Raj Varman, CEO, Burger King India said, “We believe tech-enabled solutions will give us a chance to maintain pace with customers. Online apps and mobile penetration has changed the way business is being done."
Burger King India Private Limited is a joint venture formed by BKAsiapac, Pte. and Everstone Capital, a leading India and South East Asia focused investor with dedicated private equity and real estate funds, to develop the Burger King brand in India.
Burger King has 25 stores presently. It had started the e-ordering option through online firm eBay. It is the first QSR chain to offer customers the option of pre-book trademark Whopper burgers. Jaspal Sabharwal, Partner, Everstone Capital partner said, "Every meal and snack-occasion is an opportunity." The delivery service will be starting in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai this week. For the first time, a brand has started delivery-service within the first nine months of its debut in any country.
