- ‘Business Blasters’ To Be Introduced In Government-Funded Colleges
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that the ‘Business Blasters’ initiative is set to be introduced in government-funded colleges, with funds earmarked for the curriculum.
He emphasised the programme’s ability to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among students, encouraging them to be job creators rather than job seekers. He expressed the intention to implement the same curriculum in government-supported colleges, with funds already sanctioned for this purpose.
He was speaking at the Excellence in Education Awards event organised by the Delhi government.
The ‘Business Blasters’ programme is an extension of the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum, offering Class 11 and Class 12 students Rs 2,000 each as seed money to develop their business ideas. At the awards ceremony, 51 government and private schools were honoured with the ‘Excellence in Education Award’ across seven categories.
Kejriwal credited the success of the ‘education revolution’ in Delhi to the teachers of government schools, asserting that these schools have surpassed private institutions in various aspects. He highlighted that the government’s focus was on providing an environment for teachers to excel rather than changing the teachers themselves, resulting in even underprivileged children receiving top-notch education in Delhi.
The Chief Minister praised Delhi government school teachers as role models for students, noting that many award recipients expressed their aspirations to become teachers in the future. The ‘Chief Minister trophy’ for the state’s best school was awarded to Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya (Rajokari), while 13 schools received the ‘Education Minister trophy’ for best district school. Additionally, 20 schools were recognised as ‘Zonal best schools,’ and 12 schools received awards for the best management committee.
Meanwhile, addressing the event, Delhi Education Minister Atishi highlighted the inclusive approach of Delhi government schools, mentioning that over 23,000 children with special needs are enrolled, with specialised teachers provided for their education. She also acknowledged the significant contributions of parents and school management committees to the overall development of government schools over the past nine years, emphasising the diverse range of curricular activities offered to students.
