Coffee Day Enterprises, the parent company of the Coffee Day Group, which houses Cafe Coffee Day will choose franchising to expand its network Internationally. Recently the company opened its outlets in Egypt and Malaysia via franchise route.
While the group owns stores in Austria and Prague, it recently opened outlets in Malaysia and Egypt through the franchise route. Venu Madhav, CEO, Café Coffee Day stated: “This is the strategy we will follow for all international expansion and this will save us from capital expenditure."
The group will also open 135 stores and add 5,000 vending machines in India every year. Cafe Coffee Day is the largest coffee-shop chain in the country with about 1,500 outlets.
As per the company website, it is expanding its existing (Company owned or company operated) cafes and does not franchise. The company will partner with someone who owns a commercial or commercially converted/convertible retail space on a rental/revenue share basis with a retail space area of 1000 – 1500 sq. ft on ground floor, minimum frontage of 25 running feet and ample parking space.
