MakeMyTrip, a comprehensive online travel site is looking forward to open stores pan-India with special focus on category B and C cities. Currently, it has 58 stores across India. Out of these, 16 are company owned branches and the remaining 42 are franchisee run.
The company recently bought a 25 per cent stake in Bangalore-based digital hotel marketing solutions firm Simplotel. In February 2014, MakeMyTrip completed the acquisition of www.easytobook.com which is headquartered in Amsterdam and has a technology development team based in Herzliya, Israel.
Elaborating on the achievements of the company, Ranjeet Oak, Head-Holidays, MakeMyTrip says, “MakeMyTrip Group (MMYT) acquired majority stake in Luxury Tours and Travel Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based agency in 2011. This was followed in 2012 by acquisition of Thailand-based Hotel Travel Group that operates website, www.hoteltravel.com and Thailand-based ITC Group.”
