Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Ltd (CCIC), a New Delhi based company plans to expand its showrooms all over the world via franchising.
MA Ibrahimi, Managing Director, CCIC spoke to Abha Garyali of Franchise India Holdings Limited (FIHL), “We hope to open our showrooms all over the world. We would be starting from New Zealand and gradually expand to other places.” He further informed, “Aspiring franchisees can be of any origin but preferably should be familiar with Indian handicrafts and handlooms, although it is not compulsory.”
Ibrahimi added, “Under our franchise arrangement, the investment and expertise of the partner in a foreign country and the strengths of CCIC in sourcing of handicraft and handloom products can be combined to meet the expansion needs of the marketing of handicrafts.” The company presently has one showroom in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The CCIC merchandise includes carpets, shawls, fabrics, sarees, artifacts in sandalwood and other woods, metals, silver jewellery and other crafted objects from diverse regions of India.
Regarding the investment by franchisees, Ibrahimi informed, “The investment would depend on the size and place of the showroom.” CCIC has their outlets in Gurgaon, Patna, Budhgaon and Rajgiri in India.
