The British brand intends to do so with a mix of company-owned and franchise stores.
“Emerging markets are a core strategic focus for Clarks in India. Clarks focusses on tier-II and III cities for expansion as we see a lot of potential for growth of global brands in this market. We will continue expand in these locations through company-owned retail stores as well as actively seek out franchise partners to give the best to these markets. We are looking at expanding our retail outlets to 150 from the current 60 stores in the next five years. We already work with the leading franchise partners in India and we will only look at expanding our franchise base to take the brand to smaller cities,” Clarks India Vice President – Sales & Operations Lokesh Mishra told Franchise India.
Since opening its first exclusive store in April 2011 in Connaught Place, Delhi, the brand has opened a total of 60 stores including 20 franchise in a short span of almost five years. At the moment, the brand is present across 35 cities including Jaipur, Pune, Amritsar, Coimbatore etc apart from the metro cities. Clarks entered India in April 2011 and globally it has 1,400 stores.
