Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) will launch six new research centres in the next financial year.
The six centres are centre for comparative literature under the department of Hindi; centre for industrial research development and society engagement under school of engineering; centre for extension activities in marine science under school of marine sciences; centre for alternative finance under faculty of social sciences; centre for library technology and information science, which will function under the university library; and centre for accounting and finance under school of management studies.
Cusat has also planned to introduce two new schools, one to provide skill development in the areas of engineering, management and technology, and another to streamline integrated MSc programmes offered by the varsity.
Besides the new centres proposed in the 2019-20 budget, the university would soon open four centres proposed in the previous budget. These are total waste treatment technology park (TWTTP), an interdisciplinary centre for research ethics (ISRE), centre for wetland studies (CWS), and protocols and software development centre (PSDC).
