Maurice de Hond, the Chief Executive Officer, Steve Jobs School, shared insights into the schools best practices and the role of technology in our education concept.

What is your purpose of bringing Steve jobs Foundation in India?

Our school model is geared to bring children’s education for the future than of the past. We started in Netherlands with 25 schools. Now, we are approached by people from all over the world because everyone is looking for new models and not a model that is almost like a factory where you have children organized by age with much more geared to personalized education and personalized level of the children. We have schools in South Africa and we think there is a big market in India for this model and we are trying to work with local schools, local companies to bring our models to schools in India.

What the Indian Education sector lacks that your school can cater to?

Basically, what the Indian schools lack is roughly the same like everywhere in the world. And in anyway, schools are the same as 30-50 years back. They need to be much more modernized and by Modernising means, not bringing the children in the classes anymore and also bring a better curriculum to the schools. It is seen that in India, it is a big wish for bringing about new approaches in the Education space and our approach is exactly the same.

Tell us some unique features of Steve Jobs School?

A Steve Jobs School offers your child a rich learning environment with the most modern educational methods, where your child not only learns all the compulsory primary school matter, but where he or she will especially will be stimulated in a unique way, to discover his or her own talent and to develop skills that are of vital importance for the world of tomorrow.

Our school has been selected as one of the most inevitable schools and our starting point in a child is to bring personalized development. Knowledge about a child’s goal and also how can we bring about the goals in school. We don’t follow the notion of a classroom where there is a same teacher and same children

Why made you name your institution as ‘Steve Jobs’?

Basically, when we thought about a school, it was 6 months after Steve Jobs had died and it’s a kind of tribute to him and I only wanted to run the school for my daughter and it has grown much bigger than we ever thought. Also, we got positive responses from Apple. It is a tribute to someone who made important changes to the world like Bill Gates.
