- Delhi has reported a total of 342 fresh cases of dengue taking the total number of dengue cases to 1807
In just seven days Delhi has reported a total of 342 fresh cases of dengue taking the total number of dengue cases to 1807, according to latest reports released by the anti-malaria headquarters of the civic bodies. At 482 the cases of malaria are at a four year high besides a total of 338 cases of chickenguniya being reported till September 30 this year.
The spurt comes in the backdrop of civic bodies and government claiming much is being done to generate awareness. A large number of the 342 dengue cases have been reported from Delhi cantonment area, south and north Delhi besides the areas falling under the jurisdiction of New Delhi municipal council.
According to the civic bodies’ reports 1465 cases of dengue were reported till September 23. From 2013 the capital did not see as much cases of malaria as it has seen this year. Only 383 cases of malaria were reported in 2013, 171 in 2014, 149 in 2015, 381 in 2016 and 482 this year. Between September 1 to September 30 a total of 177 cases of malaria have been reported in Delhi.
Delhi has reported 338 cases of chikungunya which is far more than the sum of all the cases reported between 2012 to 2015 till September 30. It is however far less than 3349 chikungunya cases reported in 2016. Till September 30 only 6 cases of chikungunya were reported in 2012, 8 in 2013, 4 in 2014 and 1 in 2015.
