Avneet kaur, Managing Director, JIE School discussed about increasing prospects in education franchising and how JIE is tackling the challenges ahead.

JIE School wants to take the education stratum to new heights across India. The brand is adopting aggressive strategies to spread its footprint in every nook and cranny of the country. In an interaction with Ekta Sharma Verma, Avneet kaur, Managing Director, JIE School discussed about increasing prospects in education franchising and how JIE is tackling the challenges ahead.

What is the story behind the inception of your brand?

JIE School India Pvt. Ltd was started by me and Kaushal Kumar. The company was launched with an aim to impart quality education to the early childhood students. International researches have proved that a child develops around 50 percent of his/ her ability to learn in the first four years of life. This research had a very positive impact on my vision. I also believe that children learn and develop best when exploring their world through stimulating and challenging play. I wanted to create an environment which provides opportunities for children to reach their potential in the areas of physical abilities, expressive arts, problem solving, mathematical skills, language and literacy and most importantly the ability to develop and maintain relationships and to make wise decisions.

What strategies you employ to maintain the standards of your company?

JIE preschool offers high standard of education at affordable prices. A consistent and safe environment which is essential for each child’s development is provided and taken care of. The welfare of the children is treated as the first and foremost priority. An important element in achieving this is a close relationship between the center and the families of the children. We recognise importance of our staff in our ability to implement these philosophies in order to provide the highest quality care. We have designed a modular curriculum keeping in mind the requirements and mental growth, awareness of the present generation kids. Recently the Company has made the preschool go online. Parents are able to see the monthly time table that would be taught to their wards well in advance, holidays, festivals, the activities and the performance of the children are also given on the site.

What kinds of challenges are seen ahead in this sector, considering the franchise sector, which is getting bigger with time?

There are certain challenges like franchisors imposing control, additional costs, possible conflict with franchisor, no specific law for franchising etc.

What are the future expansion strategies?

Initially we are expanding in the northern part of the country and as a step towards our goal; we have started with four centers in Uttrakhand, two at Haldwani and one each in Pantnagar and Kichha. We have finalised 23 centers which will be taking up shortly. By the start of the academic year 2015, we shall have our all India branch network of a minimum 100 centers. We have tied up with British Council as our principal partner for completing our dream project of K-12 education. Most probably we would be launching our JIE K12 International by 2016.

Do you have any international plans?

We have a positive response from overseas entrepreneurs who are interested to associate with our brand to start a center in Malaysia, Singapore and other places too.
