Di Bella Coffee, Australia’s coffee chain has entered into a 70:30 joint venture (JV) with India-born Australian entrepreneur Sachin Sabharwal for Indian market. The Indian partner will have majority stake in JV company and rest will be held by Australia-based parent company. Di Bella Coffee brand will continue to be owned by the Australia-based parent company, and the Indian partner will develop the business.

The company plans to have 50 stores in the next three years in India. The coffee chain launched its first outlet in Mumbai early 2012 and currently operates seven outlets in the city. Further, the Indian partner would be taking the franchise route to expand the brand.

Di Bella coffee is positioned as the premium coffee retail brand in India. The new JV company in India would operate on three different verticals. Its retail segment or coffee stores would form around 70 per cent of the business, while 20 percent will be through wholesale and rest 10 percent via online sales. Moreover, the JV is also mulling to take up space at showrooms selling premium cars and bikes.

Founded in 2002, Di Bella Coffee today has established international presence with 1,200 wholesale and retail outlets across the world.
