Unisys Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd, a major player in the Mobile VAS Market, based in Haryana has joined hands with the promoters of Dixy Chicken India Pvt Ltd by buying substantial shares in the same. This move is going to propel the growth of Dixy Chicken India Pvt. Ltd, with opening of outlets in the next three years. Dixy Chicken India Pvt. Ltd is a joint venture between Panban Group, Unisys Group and Dixy Fried Chicken UK. They have already established their first restaurant 'Dixy Euro' in Mumbai. The Mumbai outlet operates on a franchise basis. This marks the foray of the UK-based QSR operator in India. Dixy Chicken India Pvt Ltd is going to open its first company-owned and operated outlet in New Delhi in March 2010 to showcase its full product range of offerings.

Rajat Pandhi, Managing Director, Dixy Chicken India Pvt. Ltd said, “Initially, we intend to open and manage four to six outlets within key markets and later adopt the franchise model. However, we will not offer a master franchise for the brand." He added, “We are also looking at the operating food courts in India later in the coming year.” In India, Dixy Chicken will operate in four formats. The ‘Food Court’ model requires 400 sq. ft, area and comes with an investment of Rs 40 Lakh. The ‘Express’ model requires 1000 sq. ft area and an investment of Rs 80 Lakh. Likewise, the Dixy Chicken ‘Diner’ format can be set up within 1,500 sq. ft area with an investment of Rs one crore, while the ‘Diner Plus’ format will occupy 2,500 sq. ft area entailing an investment of Rs 1.5 crore.

Dixy Chicken offers Fried Chicken, Pizzas, Burgers, Grilled Chicken, Sandwiches, Salads and Gelato and a host of combo meals. "The menu has been designed with a holistic approach, rather than offering selected products to our clients. We want this to be a ' full family-oriented restaurant' and not an outlet for only trendy diners," remarked Pandhi. The turnaround time for setting up Dixy Chicken outlets is expected to be 90 days, while the average per cover (APC) is around Rs 150. Apart from the metros, Dixy Euro plans to target tier II and III locations across the country to expand the Dixy Euro brand.
