- Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital eyes to open 140 new centres by 2020
Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital plans to open 140 new care centres globally by 2020 from the existing 60. The hospital will expand its presence via JV with renowned doctors of that particular city or by opening own hospitals.
"Agarwal's Eye Hospital is on a massive expansion. We now have 60 full-fledged eye hospitals in India including 12 in Africa and one in Cambodia. Our total target is by 2020, from 60 hospital group we will be touching 200 eye hospitals globally," informed Dr Amar Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of the Chennai-headquartered Dr Agarwal's Group of Eye Hospitals.
"We are looking at large investments. Rs 200 crore plus will be invested in first phase as part of this expansion plan. The amount will be raised through internal sources and debt...raising money is not an issue...the aim is delivery of high quality eye care at the doorstep to everybody," he said.
We are looking at opening 15-20 more centres in Africa besides Vietnam and Philippines," he added. "Our aim to build 30 hospitals spread across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the next three years at an investment of Rs 30-Rs 40 crore."
Dr Agarwal's Group of Eye Hospitals currently has 2,500 people including 250 eye doctors, to provide quality eye care services round-the-clock.
