Franchise India Holdings Ltd (FIHL) presented the second National Convention ‘Entrepreneur India 2012’ which was organised at Hotel Claridges, Surajkund, New Delhi on 18 -19 May 2012. This year’s conference brought together eminent industry experts and members of Government of India apex bodies where they exchanged brimming ideas, inscribed guidelines and explicitly talked about growth opportunities for the new age entrepreneurs of India.
Inaugurating the opening session Dr H P Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, NSIC, said: “The conference has provided an apt platform for the whole community to get together and talk about entrepreneurship, but most importantly, it will be a great opportunity to connect entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs with resources to help them move forward.”
The two-day mega event focused on the entrepreneurial growth and new business opportunities in a wide range of domains. The convention served as an exclusive platform for entrepreneurs to learn, unlearn and relearn various facets of entrepreneurship, highlighting the major trends, prospects and avenues of entrepreneurial success. The forum consisted of interactive sessions; leadership round-tables and career workshops that addressed entrepreneurial challenges in key enterprise areas and presented tangible solutions to everyday workplace challenges of entrepreneurs. The convention offered a stage to budding entrepreneurs to learn about the basics of creating a company or a product and how to take full advantage of various opportunities, to make their initiative a success.

Prof Rajita Chaudhuri, Dean Centre of Enterprise Management, IIPM, presided over the key session on Women and Entrepreneurship in the modern world, sharing accurate statistics on profit generated by women entrepreneurs and urged them to scale up their business with available opportunities provided by national and international financial institutes.

An important and a vibrant part of this occasion were the country’s most prestigious awards in the Entrepreneur sector - Entrepreneur India Awards 2012. In all, there were 17 award categories spanning across different business sectors. The esteemed ‘Entrepreneur of the Year 2012’ was bagged by Shantanu Prakash - Founder- Educomp Solutions Ltd, and ‘Lifetime Achievement award 2012 was conferred to Pawan Jain, CMD, Safexpress, who has revolutionised logistics in India. The award ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012’ was bestowed to Dhruv Galgotia- CEO-Galgotias University for his achievements and ‘Woman Entrepreneur of the Year 2012’ went to the truly deserving woman entrepreneur Veena Kumaravel, Founder, Naturals Unisex Salon & Spa. The event also conducted an exhibition where entrepreneurs showcased their brand to the world of business.
