Abha Garyali (AG): Tell us something about the origin, growth and success of ‘ABC Montessori’? When and where and how did it originate?
Gurmeet Singh (GS): ABC Montessori ventured into Montessori Philosophy and Education System in 2004. By virtue of our alliance and association with the International Montessori Council and Member, American Montessori Society, USA we are guided with technical know-how and latest researches and developments at international level. After experiencing its benefits at our own Model School we decided to facilitate and support its adoption and promotion by offering complete business solutions to set-up, start and successfully manage a Montessori Pre-School, through franchise model. ABC Montessori facilitates entrepreneurs, house-wives, existing schools, institutes, and colleges etc. by offering them an option of master franchise and franchise. Today, ABC Montessori is India’s fastest developing American chain of Montessori pre-school, day-care and Education College with presence across India spanning over north, south, east and west.
AG: From where did you get the inspiration to opt for franchising as a mode of expansion?
GS: Franchising has always been the preferred route for business development. The success rate of franchises is generally higher as you are investing in a product with a proven track record. ABC Montessori is supported by GCS Group, an expert in franchising and having experience of over 200 successful associate network in education sector. The proven success of the franchise model prompted in opting for franchising as a mode of expansion.
AG: What qualities do you look in prospective franchisees for your company?
GS: We primarily look for following qualities for franchisees as well as for master franchise:
AG: How many franchisees do you have and in which all cities?
GS: Montessori is a dominating success story across 52 counties in six continents and hundreds of new schools are opening across the world every year. ABC Montessori has over 90 franchisees across India. It is present in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, U.P etc.
AG: What all training and support do you provide to the franchisees?
GS: Complete business guidance and support is ensured to our franchisees and master franchisees.
AG: How much investment is required by an aspiring franchisee in terms of money and time?
GS: Our model requires an investment which is very low as compared to most other contemporary business models. The franchisee fee ranges from Rs One lakh to Rs seven lakh depending upon the different projects. While the fee for master franchisee can range from Rs four lakh to Rs 12.5 lakh.
AG: Share with us any new venture that your company has entered into?
GS: We have recently launched Montessori Education College project for award of Diploma in Montessori education to empower the aspirants to fill the existing great demand of qualified Montessori teachers across the world.
