Gionee plans to increase franchise store count to 250
?Chinese phone maker Gionee is looking forward to raise its franchise outlet count to 100 by March and 250 by December. Its products are currently sold through multi-brand stores and 30 Gionee-branded franchise outlets.

Besides this, the brand also hopes to set up 200 exclusive service centres in India. The firm, which finds India as a key market along with the domestic Chinese market and Africa, may open some flagship stores too and is targeting the top 100 malls in India to open franchise stores.

After Apple, the Chinese company has also planned to file an application with the Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy (DIPP) for a single-brand retail licence.

In November, Indian government scrapped a 30% local sourcing condition for foreign firms seeking to invest more than 51% equity in the single-brand retail segment and also allowed single-brand licence holders to sell products through their own online platforms.
