Hyderabad-headquartered Global Hospitals made an announcement that it has forayed into East Africa by launching a 125-bed facility in Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous region in Tanzania.
Known as Tasakhtaa Hospitals, an associate of Global Hospitals India is located at Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Zanzibar, a company statement said.
The hospital has been opened in association with Turkey's Group of Companies, one of the largest business groups of Zanzibar, it added.
The Zanzibar facility will provide primary and secondary care services, with some level of tertiary care, and will focus onpromoting health and wellbeing of the citizens while preventing outbreak of diseases, he added.
However, the company officials were unavailable to comment on the venture.
