How are pulse businesses growing in the present times?

Both urban and rural customers now place a high focus on healthy eating. More people are transitioning to diets high in fibre and low in fat as they become more aware of the negative impacts of sedentary lifestyles. Consequently, more households than ever are making pulses a staple food.

What are the key challenges in this business?

Modern retailing of pulses is all about having direct, first-hand interactions with clients and providing them with satisfying experiences that they want to have repeatedly. Giving consumers a wonderful experience is easier said than done. The current hot topics include issues with retail differentiation, merchandising mix, supply chain management, and competition from supplier brands.

What are the changes that your sector is witnessing?

As India enters the next stage of retail development, every retailer aspires to provide an immersive shopping experience. Customers frequently mention how challenging it is to discern the distinctiveness of retail establishments.

What percentage of export and import do we have in terms of pulses? What are the factors that impact this exchange?

The expansion of activities in India is currently the main priority. We will be focusing on exports and imports in the upcoming year.

Current demand and supply of pulses in India. Comment.

The two main factors influencing food demand are income and population increase. Both of these variables are currently on the rise, so the FMCG industry is stepping up its efforts to satisfy the soaring demand.

Other than pulses, what are the areas one should explore in the FMCG industry?

Other market segments to investigate in the sector could be rice, flour, fruits, vegetables, etc., keeping in mind the health-conscious consumer.
