Indonesia based ride-hailing firm GO-JEK has started its operations in Vietnam, with the company backed GO-VIET application now available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
After its pilot launch with select users in District 1 and 3 of Ho Chi Minh City through GO-VIET explorers program, the firm has rolled out its services in the city. GO-JEK claims to have earned thousands of drivers and will be available in 12 districts across Ho Chi Minh City.
“Vietnam could benefit greatly from the services we will be offering. We hope the people of Vietnam will start seeing us as their go-to transport and logistics app as we head towards our full launch within the next few weeks." said Duc Nguyen, GO-VIET co-founder and CEO.
The company said it will continue to improve its technology as it receives feedback from a broader range of users ahead of a full launch that is expected to take place in the next few weeks.
In May, Google-backed GO-JEK had said it will invest $500 million on its International expansion that will include Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines.
Go-Jek said that the operations will be run by local founding teams, with the company providing technological support and expertise gathered over the past three years. Go-Jek’s tech team is currently spread across India, Singapore, and Indonesia.
