Goa To Get INR 200 Crore Worth MSME Training Centre image
Goa is home to approximately 428 startups recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Startup India initiative. Notably, 199 of these startups are led by women entrepreneurs.

A training centre will soon be established at the cost of INR 200 crore to support the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Goa, which is home to over 400 registered startups, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.

Citing a roadmap to support the sector, the Chief Minister said, “Our goal is to foster Goa’s economic stability, create employment, enhance industrial development, and contribute to the country’s GDP growth.” He said women play an indispensable role in fostering inclusivity and driving positive change in the nation.

The announcement was made during the commencement of Niti Ayog’s workshop series on Women-led developments in Goa. The event aims to launch a range of initiatives and help create awareness about Women Entrepreneurship Programmes (WEP). Women entrepreneurs will get access to valuable resources through the workshop.

As per the information available on the government's Udyam registration portal, Goa has a total of 38,976 registered MSMEs. Among these, 37,561 are micro enterprises, 1,294 small enterprises, and 122 medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, Goa is home to approximately 428 startups recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Startup India initiative. Notably, 199 of these startups are led by women entrepreneurs.

MSME Training Centres Offer Several Benefits:

Access to Finance: MSMEs are provided with proper guidance for preparing business plans and loan proposals, making it easier for them to secure financing from financial institutions.

Building network: These training centres work as a platform for business owners to connect with peers, mentors, and industry experts, fostering valuable relationships and partnerships.

Other than these benefits, training centres emphasize quality control, certifications, to meet industry standards and access new markets. By offering market research and export promotion services, it helps MSMEs explore new domestic and global markets with the end goal of increasing their customer base.

There’s a large emphasis on the legal framework as well. Training centres help businesses stay within the law by providing knowledge on things like regulations, licences, and compliance requirements. These centres play a vital role in growth and development of MSMEs through support, resources, and essential training to cultivate their skills and talents.
