Gold’s Gym India is looking forward to cross the mark of hundred centres in India by the end of the current fiscal. The US-brand presently operates 83 gyms in the country.
Speaking with Franchise India, G Ramachandran, Promoter & Director, Gold's Gym India, said: “We are currently targeting 100+ open and operating gyms by March 2016 and will sign up to 150 gyms by March 2017. We are tapping tier-II and III cities for expansion in India.”
Gold’s Gym started in Venice California in 1965, and soon became the hotbed for the development of training techniques, equipment and nutritional concepts that formed the foundation for the modern fitness revolution. In 1975, Gold’s Gym received international attention when it was featured in the major motion picture, ‘Pumping Iron’.
Today, Gold’s Gym has over 700 facilities. It is one of the largest international gym chains in the world. The India chapter of Gold’s Gym started in 2002, when the first Gold’s Gym India branch was set up in Mumbai. It is promoted by partners Jagdish K Valecha, Rajesh Advani, G.Ramachandran, Ashwin Ramesh and Karan Valecha.
