Approximately 140 tribal kids, who have become village engineers, received skill certificates today at a ceremony presided over by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel.

The ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ Sankalp of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken off from Bhopal, capital city of Madhya Pradesh, with an aim of empowering the youth in rural India. This shows that the target of Atmanirbhar Bharat can only be achieved through Atmanirbhar villages. Electronics and IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar distributed the certificates, to the first batch of trainees, under the pilot project of Skilling Tribal Youth-Rural Tribal Technical Training or Grameen Udyami in Bhopal. He stated that creating new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities was an article of faith for the Central Government.

Approximately 140 tribal kids, who have become village engineers, received skill certificates today at a ceremony presided over by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel. The trainees were praised by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who joined digitally, for successfully finishing the skill programme and for acquiring what he called "Passport to Prosperity" talents.

The Minister expressed his happiness with the pilot initiative and stated that everyone should use it as a springboard to replicate success in the other regions around the country. By providing opportunities locally, the project will empower tribal kids and lessen the push and pull for migration. He continued, "It will spur economic activity at the local level in the Districts, which is congruent with the current economic approach of the Government that emphasises AtmaNirbharta or self-reliance."

Five different disciplines—electrical and solar energy, agricultural mechanisation, e-governance, plumbing and masonry, and two-wheeler repair and maintenance—were taught to the recipients. Additionally, with the help of this training, the young people will be able to launch their businesses, expanding the pool of available jobs for other young people. The idea of "Multi Skilling," which involves transforming unemployed youngsters into village engineers, is unique and will be adopted by other districts.

The Minister highlighted the importance of skilling in post Covid-19 times. He said that the Covid-19 pandemic had led to disruptions in traditional supply chains offering considerable opportunities to India & Indians. The world has started looking for a trusted partner. As the world now looks toward India, we need to skill our youth to emerge as Global Skills Hub. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed us to work out a new approach towards Skilling to build on the gains of Skill India 1.0 & to capitalise on the new economic opportunities offered to India in the emerging New World Order post-Covid-19.

The minister emphasised the significance of skilling the youth, for the rejuvenation of the economy, in the post Covid-19 era. According to him, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused disruptions in conventional supply chains, which have created enormous potential for India and Indians. The world is currently seeking a reliable partner. We must train our youth so that India can become a Global Skills Hub as the world now turns its attention to India.

On May 13, 2022, a pilot project named the Sansadiya Sankul Pariyojana was introduced to train 250 people from 17 clusters of 17 districts chosen from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Odisha. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar, and BJP General Secretary BL Santosh were among the dignitaries present at the event.

The government is giving priority to skill development as an important aspect to provide more opportunities to rural youth and strengthen local village economies. The development of district skilling plans for each of the 700 districts is a component of this effort. Each district now has a Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow who will collaborate with the district collector, who serves as the district's public spokesperson, to mould skills to meet local needs. The division will be done into Farm and Non-farm economies. This will also be done based on which talents are needed, which opportunities are available, and for skills outside of the local community in the state and within the nation.
