The Central Government is eyeing to launch 2,500 more Jan Aushadhi stores by 2020. Till now, the Centre has opened more than 5,000 Jan Aushadhi stores, providing quality drugs at affordable rates, across the country. The government is further looking to start at least one store in every block.
Mansukh L Mandaviya, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, has said that under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) has crossed 5,000-mark in India.
Mandaviya stated, "By the year 2020, another 2,500 Jan Aushadhi stores will be opened in the country. Our aim is to have at least one such store at every block level."
"Health is one sector which is on the priority of our government. Government is continuously working to provide affordable treatment and medicines at cheaper prices. Today if a patient starts his/her treatment, 70 per cent of the money goes on buying medicines," he added.
