Foodpanda.in, India’s leading online food ordering platform, recently conducted a survey to find out which city in India is the healthiest. Through the survey, foodpanda wishes to celebrate the occasion of World Heart Day on 29th September 2014 and also aims to put the limelight on cities which order the healthiest grub round the year. It also aims to turn the spotlight on the various healthy but delicious gastronomic choices that the patrons of foodpanda have access to through its portal.
The Millennium City of Gurgaon emerged as the most health-conscious metropolis with 20 per cent of its denizens ordering healthy food on a regular basis. It was followed by Noida (16 per cent), Kolkata and Pune (14 per cent each) and then Mumbai (12 per cent). Delhi was revealed to be the least worried about eating healthy as only a meager 11 percent opted for healthy food from outlets that focused on dishing out meals whose calorific values are low.
Rohit Chadda, MD and Co-Founder, foodpanda.in said, “As the leading online food ordering portal in the country, we wish to inculcate the habit of healthy eating among our patrons on the occasion of World Heart Day. The survey is a step forward to motivate our customers to switch to a healthy lifestyle and lead a salubrious existence.”
Another insight of the survey was that vendors like Subway, Healthy Bites, and Sattviko among others are most preferred by the fitness-conscious lot. The survey was carried out among customers falling under the age group of 20 to 35 years with the ratio of male versus female respondents being 75:25.
World Heart Day is celebrated as a reminder that over 17.3 million people succumb to death every year due to heart disease and stroke. The fast food indulgence of people dwelling in metro cities takes a toll on their lives making them vulnerable to the risk of developing heart disease. The celebration of this day is an initiative taken by foodpanda to make people aware that healthy eating is the mantra to be followed to keep in shape and live a happy life.
