- ?Havells to plan India plant for personal grooming products
Electrical equipment maker Havells India will continue to depend on imports for its personal grooming segment for at least three years before it starts manufacturing domestically, said its executive vice president Saurabh Goel.
The company, which recently ventured into personal care segment, is currently sourcing products from outside India.
“We will look at having our own manufacturing facility after two to three years once we achieve a scale in personal grooming segment. Also, as our indigenisation level at our existing fans facility is around 93 percent, we will look at replicating the same once the facility for personal grooming products comes up,” said Goel.
Personal grooming is one of the fastest growing segments in the electrical equipment industry, recording a growth of 20-25 percent as against the fan segment, which is growing at 6-8%.
“This high growth rate is attracting electrical manufactures into this segment where there are few organised players, said Goel.
Another electrical major Syska too entered the personal grooming segment in January this year and plans to invest Rs 100 crore on its marketing. The electrical major is also looking at water purifier segment but the plan is still at conceptual stage, said company executives.
