Mumbai-based healthcare platform, Welcome Cure has raised about Rs 40 Cr (US$ 6 million) in pre-series A round of funding from two angel investors.
The company has bagged the fund in two tranches, out of which, US$ 1 million was raised from high net-worth individuals and US$ 5 million from one of India’s largest media house.
Reacting over the news, Punit Desai, Co-Founder of Welcome Cure said, “In a short span of time, we have received an overwhelming response from our users with a high renewal rate of close to 69 per cent. We get consumer traction from various regions globally and have developed the entire technology in-house over a period of 24 months.”
The company is expected to utilise the capital raised for marketing and expansion activities. Welcome Cure also has plans for another fund-raise in next three to six months in order to scale higher.
Welcome Cure was started in 2014 by Dr. Jawahar J. Shah, an award-winning homeopathic practitioner, technocrat, educationalist and academician; and Punit Desai, an entrepreneur with vast experience, investments and capabilities in solar power, ecommerce & home shopping, films, media and entertainment sectors.
Welcome Cure is a virtual clinic that offers modern healthcare facilities of online consultation via video chat, live chat, Skype, telephonic and email interactions with expert physicians worldwide, at consumer’s convenience.
The start-up boasts of a network of over 100 world class renowned doctors registered from across the globe, providing unlimited treatment for over 100 diseases under one digital roof.
The site also offers pocket-friendly health packages varying from three months to 24 months within the range of Rs 3,500 to Rs 16,000, respectively. The portal offers end to end online homeopathy solution through the web and mobile application.
