India is currently facing a shortage of qualified medical professionals in rural India which impacting the health scenario of rural-based people. Considering the necessity, Ayushman Bharat Yojana is planning to launch 1, 50,000 lakh health sub-centers and primary health centers as ‘health and wellness centers. This scheme came into existence on 14th April 2018.

According to Rural Health Statistics, approximately 79 thousand were male health workers, approximately 6,500 were nurse midwives and 4,263 were without either. Primary health centers require 25,650 doctors across India to treat a minimum of 40 patients per doctor per day for outpatient care according to Indian Public Health Standards.
