- How IIM’s are adapting the digital methods in their Learning?
With nearly 46 Million internet users and a growth rate of 7-8 per cent, India represents a digital economy, which has biggest market potential for global players.
The scenario needs to change so that the students are able to address the needs of today’s business world. As the external environment changes, some of these are secular and it is also becoming more uncertain with high-amplitude shifts, a change in the nature of work, and a changing enterprise mix. The graduating students have to be effective in this world of tomorrow, in terms of training and perspective. And yet, even as circumstances change, fundamentals remain the same.
Furthermore, the students are required to be equipped to be successful today but in the long term, the generation should not be so saddled by cyclical business issues as to lose sight of fundamentals.
Here is management education for difficult times, and here’s another entirely different version for frothy times. It is a prior duty of the educators to give them training and development which will stand them in good stead in good times and difficult times. There has to be a true and tested balance between what works in today’s world and what is true and tested.
Our pedagogy is practice-driven and field-driven and our faculty brings outside world experiences to the classroom. That helps students develop skills and concepts that are useful in today’s world and reflects on their perspective as enterprise leaders. They have to develop a way of approaching issues that stands them in good stead over the long term. We have to equip them for today’s times as well as for the long term.
According to Assistant Dean-Executive Education, Mr. Uniyal,” In today’s world, we come across people engrossed with the machines on their hands. It’s not about adapting digital technology. I think that most of the higher Education including the IIM’s is, how to remain relevant in the lives and space of Education.
"Talking about Technology, we are left with no choice but to adapt to it. We have focused our aim on Executive Education. These are the time pressed Executive, where we realise that we are not only recreating classroom learning environment but it’s too much of a cost that everybody is concerned in terms of time, effort and money an adapting a lot more to that."
"At the same time, we are partnering with a lot of platforms and to a lot of technology platforms to reach out to a large pool of students who would want to get very good Education", said Mr. Uniyal
