Finance Minister, Piyush Goyal, has presented the Interim Budget 2019 envisioning India to become a 5 trillion dollar economy in the next five years. The Interim Budget 2019 has brought opportunities for the education sector as the government has launched a national programme on Artificial Intelligence, known as ‘National Artificial Intelligence Portal’.
India secures the 13th rank in the Artificial Intelligence across the world, and is considered to be comparatively behind from the rest of the world in terms of Artificial Intelligence. With the launch of a National Programme on AI, it is expected to make an exponential difference in the current state of education sector.
Rohit Manglik, CEO, EduGorilla, commenting on the government’s move, said, “In the education sector, the government has already implemented various policy reforms. With emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Realty already making a significant impact in every sphere, the move to launch the National Artificial Intelligence Portal is a commendable one. The education sector will receive a boost with the focus on strengthening the digital infrastructure. It can be a game-changer in making education affordable and facilitate access to education among youth in every nook and corner of the country.”
While Artificial Intelligence cannot truly replace the need of human presence, it can process and streamline various educational activities like grading, administrative work, teaching-related jobs, and many more activities. In terms of educational purposes, the introduction of AI across the nation can be considered as the smartest move as it will raise the standards of education and will make students eligible enough to meet the requirements of the current market.
In conversation with Franchise India, Arun Gupta, CEO and Founder of MoMAGIC Technologies said, “The national program on AI by the Indian government is the right direction to create grass root level interest among Indian techies. With big data and analytics, AI will play a key role in several areas including retail, logistics, pharma, e-commerce and security etc. We also foresee AI tech to push the AdTech Setor and in turn the digital marketing and mobile marketing,”
AI in education seems like a win-win situation as it benefits the every entity involved in the education sector. Students are getting personalized teaching. AI will benefit the teachers as teachers could focus on pedagogical tasks rather than to focus on administration work. And when we talk about AI’s business aspect, it gives the education sector an eminent bloom as various businesses under the education sector will further get established with the emergence of Artificial Intelligence across the nation. This move to launch the National Artificial Intelligence Portal is going to be highly profitable for the education sector and it is definitely going to shift the paradigms completely.
